Our Simply Witchy Halloween Party

Hi Everyone, Back in September (re: computer issues), we were highly anticipating the premiere of Hocus Pocus 2. We've done some home cooking posts and while I do enjoy those, I wanted something uncomplicated and easy to throw together. We made up all the names and "recipes" for our little Halloween themed party and it took less than an hour to throw it all together. Popped on a fun table cover, arranged all the food, lit the Black Flame Candle (not really), and we were ready for a little Hocus Pocus. First up, we made some Muscles & Bones: Mozzarella cheese sticks wrapped in prosciutto. You can buy the cheese and prosciutto separately and wrap them yourselves, or buy them already wrapped in packages. We did the shortcut and bought them already wrapped. This is one of my favorite things. I like to use them for cheese boards with wine as well. Eyeball Dip: Greek yogurt + French Onion Dip Mix. You can always use sour cream, but I wanted some protein and to

Columbus Park of Roses

Hey Everyone,      Remind me to never use computer issues and catching up on posts in the same sentence ever again. I am still in MAC update purgatory where I suddenly don't have enough room on my computer to install the update. (I do have an older version.) I essentially have to go in the computer through a "backdoor" to delete files to free up space which is taking an eternity. I appreciate everyone's patience with me and with all the upcoming fun 2023 things we're doing, I WILL be catching up on the end of last year's adventures. But enough tech talk, let's talk about our August 2022 *eye twitch* adventure: The Columbus Park of Roses.  Parking lot sign     I had heard of this park from coworkers and people who live in the Clintonville area. A friend had asked me to catch up one afternoon, and I suggested we check out the park. Now that I've seen it in full bloom, I love it. It's very tranquil and stunning. I'm always fascinated how each flo

Fat Cats

Hi Everyone!     Miss me? The last few months have been a whirlwind of weddings, family reunions, work chaos, and computer problems (the last of which isn't completely resolved 😐). I didn't forget about our blog adventures, so bear with me while I get July, August, and September's posts up within the next week. I appreciate everyone's patience!     In July, we visited a NEW Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives location in Cleveland Ohio: Fat Cats . The new episode aired on May 22, 2022. The restaurant itself was established in 1997. Like our other favorite DDD place in Cleveland, Lucky's Cafe , Fat Cats also works with local farmers for regional produce and has a garden on site. Similar to a lot of other Cleveland and Tremont area parking, they have a small parking lot next to the restaurant or street parking. As far as DDD locations in Ohio, the ones in the Tremont area are knocking it out of the park so I didn't even hesitate when I heard there was a new one.      W

Frontier Festival @ Cedar Point

Happy Summer!     I can do without the extreme heat, but there's nothing like amusement park season. I start watching Cedar Point's blog  as soon as the park closes every November to see what's going for the following year. I was excited to see an annual food festival that we haven't tried-the Frontier Festival. This festival is to support  Prayers from Maria -a local organization to raise awareness and cure childhood cancer. There were live bands, activities, games, crafters, characters, craft brews, spiked seltzers, signature cocktails, and of course, food! We went a bit later into the festival than I had planned, so as I write this, it's been over for a couple of weeks. It ran from May 26th-June 19th in Frontierland 2-8pm daily. I've always felt that Frontierland doesn't get the love and attention it deserves, so I was thrilled to check this event out.      The festival had tasting cards-6 Tastes for $39.99 or 10 Tastes-$59.99. There were over 20 special

Our Short, Stormy Day in German Village

Hello Everyone!     This month we decided to hit up something that I've been trying to get to for years now: The German Village Sidewalk Sale in Columbus, Ohio. We've always been a week or two early or too late in the past. This time I made sure I checked the date and times on their community website . We also enjoy walking the cobblestone streets and admiring the beautiful homes. The residents are always so friendly and welcoming. It's a true community just a couple streets over from downtown. It was our first trip to German Village since the pandemic started, so we were anxious to get back to some of our favorite locations.      We first stopped for coffee and a pastry at Fox in the Snow . It's always so bright, clean, and open in this particular location. It's also just a short walk over from Thurman Cafe . We got the Fox in the Snow coffee blend with a Morning Bun and a Strawberry Galette. I love their coffee. It's not bitter and they have a station with su

Root Candles-Medina, OH

Happy Spring!      Last month, we decided to visit an old favorite-Root Candles in Medina, Ohio. We've made day trips out there since I was a teenager to grab some lunch in the area ( Cool Beans is right down the road!) and visit the local shops. I love how big the Root Candles building itself is. You can easily spend over an hour walking around inside looking at the various gifts and candles. I am a huge sensory-oriented person so I really enjoy walking into every room and smelling all the different scents. Plus, it's a local company and the factory is behind the store where the candles are all made.      The Root Candle company has been around for about 150 years. They were established around 1869. Upon walking through the big entrance doors, their history facts are displayed on the back wall and draws you in. They are passionate about their beekeeping and use of honey and beeswax in their high quality candles. When I was younger, they used to have an active beehive display

Powell Breweries and Winery

Hello Everyone!      Spring is almost here and I am ready for it. I am a March baby and it is a difficult time to plan anything because the weather can go either way. This year, we celebrated my birthday on a bitter cold day. The high was in the 20s midday. Every indoor activity we could think of  (TopGolf, bowling, arcades, etc...) was  jam packed with people and wait times upwards of 2-4 hours. We didn't want to keep wandering all over Columbus and hitting dead-ends, so we decided to just explore some local breweries. My brother was here to celebrate and he really enjoys the small uptown vibe of Powell, so we looked up some options and headed that way.      Our first stop was my choice: Nocterra . I pass this brewery next to the railroad tracks every time I head to the Columbus Zoo. This place always looks busy inside and outside when the weather is nice. They are a drinks-only brewery with a local food truck and live music on certain days. I wish it hadn't been so cold that
